The Changing Minds Mental Health Education and Development
Centre is an innovation in education and training, providing learning and development on mental health issues across the health
and social care sectors. Our partners include service users and carers, primary and secondary care services, the acute care
sector, other statutory organisations and the independent sector.
The centre co-ordinates and delivers education and training
informed by and centred on service users and carers. The work of Changing Minds reflects national and local developments within
a framework of service delivery and workforce development in mental health.
The centre is progressing towards becoming a leading provider
of mental health training both regionally and nationally.
The overall aim of Changing Minds is to promote and develop
the competence of staff who work with people experiencing mental distress and their carers, through the delivery of a values
and evidence-based integrated training strategy.
The objectives of the centre include delivering education
and training that:
- Actively promotes the involvement of service users and carers
in mental health training and generate ways to facilitate this.
- Co-ordinates training opportunities with service developments,
service re-design and integrated care pathways.
- Works will all stakeholders to ensure that effective and
responsive services are available for people experiencing mental distress.
- Shares learning and examples of positive practice through
presentation, publications and our website.
